Alfie Joey
Alfie’s background is both interesting and unusual. Having trained to be a priest he
gave up the religious life to become a toy demonstrator at Harrods, but he has
now found his true calling. Alfie creates a rich tapestry with his cheerful
blend of tall tales, keen observations, puns and quality impressions. His
animated and energetic performance always charms and entertains.
Amongst
a plethora of TV credits is his starring role in Channel 4 drama Mad Mack, he’s
currently in Johnny Vegas’ comedy drama Ideal on
BBC 3.
Alfie devised the concept of, and writes sketches for The Unbroadcastable Radio
Show, a live topical sketch show which was performed at the Manchester Comedy
Store.
His 2003 sell-out solo show at the Edinburgh
Festival, 'Alfie Joey’s Mini-Cabaret’ garnered rave reviews and was featured on
several television networks including BBC, SKY and the Australian Comedy
Channel. It gained Alfie a Chortle Award Nomination in 2004.
"Alfie
is a star. He’d be the funny neighbour in a sitcom, the one who everybody in
the studio audience cheers for. Alfie spreads joy like a virus, he will make
you glad to be alive." Time Out
‘A cheerful
and natural talent, Alfie has plenty in his comedic bag of tricks to spread
good cheer through any audience. With his spot-on impersonations and
enthusiastic banter, he'd be right at home at a Royal Variety Performance...
his effusive bonhomie is genuine and his material original and funny.’
